Effects of Wind Turbines on Property Values in Rhode Island
This study analyzes “the effect that onshore wind turbines have on nearby property values in Rhode Island.” The data used is from nearly 50,000 “single-family, owner-occupied housing transactions within five miles of turbine sites in Rhode Island over the time period from January 2000 to February 2013.” The authors’ overall conclusion is that “across a wide variety of specifications, the results indicate that wind turbines have no statistically significant impact on house prices.” (authored by Lang, C. and Opaluch, J.)
